Biography:
Dorothy Gale is a fictional character most famously known from the musical fantasy film, The Wizard of Oz (1939), where she was portrayed by Judy Garland.
In the movie, Dorothy is a young farm girl living in Kansas with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. After being swept away by a tornado, she finds herself in the magical Land of Oz.
Desperate to return home, she is advised by Glinda the Good Witch to follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City and seek the help of the Wizard of Oz. Along her journey, she befriends the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, who accompany her in the hopes of also receiving help from the Wizard.
Dorothy's journey is fraught with danger, especially from the Wicked Witch of the West, but her courage and kindness ultimately prevail, leading her and her friends to discover their inner strengths and enabling Dorothy to return home, realizing that "there's no place like home."
